LEICESTER TIGERS
Friday November 5th
19:45
PREDICTION – Tigers 30
BATH RUGBY
Top versus bottom and 29 league points between the teams shows how the fortunes of these great rivals have differed of late.
It would take something remarkable for Bath to end their winless run and stop the Tigers’ winning run at the same time, and we can not see it happening.
In fact, it is difficult to see this Bath team troubling the handicapper who makes Leicester 19-point favourites.
Around the 25-30 mark is more realistic when you take a look at Leicester’s strengths and Bath’s weaknesses.
Games are won and lost upfront whatever the circumstances but in matches like these, where both teams are hit by call-ups, the side that do its basics well normally holds sway.
Even without Ellis Genge, Leicester’s pack will fancy beating Bath up in the set-piece especially as the visitors’ resources in the tight five are extremely stretched.
Then, when the ball does come out, who better than George Ford, the Premiership’s leading points-scorer and our pick at 40/1, to remind the Bath faithful what they’ve been missing.
In our mind, Leicester look set to repeat the ruthless demolition of Northampton last week and can easily cover off 19 points against opponents for whom the break for the Premiership Cup cannot come soon enough.
