Back us at your peril – Curry

Sale star Ben Curry believes the Sharks perform better when the chips are down.

Sale Sharks flanker Ben Curry has admitted the favourites’ tag is not one that sits well with the team.

The north-west outfit resumed their Premiership season away to Quins, and were odds-on to come away with the points, only to suffer a 16-10 loss.

Then, they found themselves in the unlikely position of being favourites to beat Gallagher Premiership leaders Exeter, another game that ended in defeat.

In their third match back, however, they confounded pre-match predictions to end Wasps’ fine run under new head coach Lee Blackett, before finally following the formbook to beat an under-strength Bristol Bears team at home in Round 17.

Next up is a trip to Welford Road to face Leicester this Saturday.

“That underdog spirit is a big culture for Sale, when everything is against us, we tend to do well,” England hopeful Curry admitted.

“I have mates who try and bet on us, and I just tell them to stop betting on us winning because any time they do, we always lose!”
